Diego Caceres of Manhattan was the driver of the Nissan Murano that was traveling south on the parkway around 3:13 a.m. Friday, when he plowed head-on into a Dodge Durango that contained a family of six who had just flown in from Florida, according to police.
The crash, which occurred just south of the Dewitt Avenue overpass, injured all seven people involved with injuries ranging from head trauma to broken legs, and neck and back pain, police said during a news conference.
Caceres, who is facing drunk driving and a host of other charges, has an NYC taxi and limousine plates on his vehicle.
All six Florida residents are being treated at Westchester Medical Center, as well as Caceres, who has been charged, police said.
Police received a call about the wrong-way driver about a minute before the crash occurred, police said.
The roadway was closed for about six hours as police investigated the crash.
